Tracking begins

Hey everyone, it has been a while since I said anything. I've mostly been reading and listening to music, as that is my life. Although, let me quickly tell about celebrity sighting number 3 since I've been out here in Hollywood. Last night the band and our friend and A&R for Capitol, Louie, went to the Magnolia Cafe to have one final talk before we started tracking, and it turns out that Meg White was there, I saw here there just eating and I quicly texted a friend of mine, and that's about it. I didn't talk to her or anything, just saw her sitting there...big whoop. Moving on...This morning we started tracking drums for the new record, and everything considered, the first day went well. Jacob managed to get two songs knocked out and tomorrow we will go for 3 more. It's great to see Jacob settle into this focused person, get locked in and perform. It's super exciting to be starting this new album and I can't wait to get it done and get on back home...hopefully all you suckers will like it. We do. My home in Virginia is waiting for me like a patient friend...I can't wait to get on a plane that will fly me back east. As much as I wish I could, I'm having a hard time adapting to the pace of life out here, or the mere quantity of cars roaming the streets at all hours of the day. I need to go grocery shopping, maybe get some frozen dinners and wine, turkey and some cereal. Rob is quite the cook around here, and he loves garlic. Hope everyone is doing well.

couldn't of said it better myself

Oh what a rush of ripe e'lan

Languor on divans

Dalliant and dainty

But oh, the smell of burnt cocaine

The dolor and decay

It only makes me cranky

Oh great calamity,

Ditch of iniquity and tears

How I abhor this place

Its sweet and bitter taste

Has left me wretched, retching on all fours

Los Angeles, I'm yours

"another hot girl with a skin condition"

Last night I was invited to some myspace comedy show and it was great. Sarah Silverman, Nick Swardson, David Spade and a few others performed and it was the first time I had been to something like that. It was at the Improv in LA and it was worth going. It takes a whole to get me to go anywhere at night here in this city, so I'm glad to say it was well worth it. I think Sarah Silverman was the funniest one there last night, maybe it was a toss up between her and Nick Swardson. Anyway, this morning I have been browsing on the internet and I found myself at Ryan Adam's website, he has this new thing called "Cardinals Radio" and I suggest you go check it out, it will probably make little sense unless you know that Ryan Adams is on the brink (in an endearing way), or atleast, some of these songs would suggest that. I'm a fan of his and I saw him play at the Norva in VA and it was wonderful, but anyway, these songs I'm listening to are kind of funny and thought provoking for certain reasons. I love Ryan Adams. Moving on, I find myself in the middle of frustration, pensive ramblings that lead me no where really. Every morning I walk down to Borders bookstore and read a few more pages of Atlas Shrugged and wonder why my brain hits walls all the time. Whatever, what do I expect, I'm in Los Angeles, the city of inspiration. I don't want to come off negative here, I'm having a good time and the record is coming along great. In a week or so we will fly to Orlando to play a show at UCF, and then fly right back to LA to start tracking the record. We hope you guys and girls like the songs as much as we do. Talk to you soon.

Hearing songs for the first time.

Tonight was a great night. I just listened to music...and I am truly in love with Elliott Smith's songs.

Celebrity Sightings

First off, I would like to say that Los Angeles is not one of my favorite cities, and no offense to those of you who live here and love it, it's just something about this city that stresses me out, makes me stagnate and causes me to long for home..with that being said there are certain things I do like about this city, and one is the possibility of celebrity sightings...I'm a sucker for them. Tonight, while shopping at Ameoba Records I got extremely lucky. Whiile looking at DVD's I glanced up and saw Glen Danzig (are you kidding me! Samhain, the Misfits!, Danzig..sheesh) and then about 2 minutes later I saw Johnny Knoxville. At that time I called all my friends and let them know. Dave told me to talk to them, but what on earth could I have said to either of those dudes....anyway. I know I haven't written much lately, we've been really busy writing and whatnot and things are going really great. I'm still slowly making my way throught Atlas Shrugged, I passed the half way point. Score.
