christina ricci and occupation.

i want to post something new, but I don't have much to talk about today, or right now. maybe something will happen later in the day, something that will push me to the edge, i'll drink it off and slur my words into a blog! I listened to Neko Case this morning, she has a voice like Jenny Lewis, and Jenny Lewis is someone I would marry, along with Christina Ricci as well. I'm going to ask the publicist at capitol/virgin to set me up on a coffee date with christina, I know she's with Adam Goldberg and that's fine, I like him. I just wanna talk to her for a bit. I'll impress her somehow, maybe by not asking her anything about movies. I won't ask any typical questions, like, "so when you do love scenes, is it wierd to think about your parents seeing them?", and I won't tell her I have a crush on her either. I will ask her about Adam Goldberg though, he's hilarious. I've been thinking about the election a lot lately, and every candidate seems the same, like always..everyone calling people out on their pass voting record and how it contradicts what they are saying now, it's about how Hillary is not a man, and Obama is not white, and Mit Romney is a Mormon, Guliani is too liberal with certain issues to get the nomination, blah blah blah. I'm leaning towards Kucinich (although, I don't think he really has a chance), maybe John Edwards, but he's so suburban or something..hmm. The next president, whether they are Democrat (fingers crossed) or a Republican will still be the president of a country that is drunk on imperialism and exploitation motivated by a shameless drive for economic and political clout, the beauty of neutralizing any government that seems to be on the way towards being stable and free of western influence, occupation under the guise of some bogus humanitarian effort that is needed because of an event that was probably sparked by our foriegn tap dance years prior... Let the laundry list begin!!! domestic and foreign...sheesh...COINTEL Pro, native americans, Central America during the 80's, Woodrow Wilson and the birth of thought control and propaganda, blood and oil, etc). My friends tell me to move to Canada, Vancouver is nice. Where did it all go wrong? I'm going to starbucks to read more socialist literature. I'm the product of my own freedom I suppose, marketed rebellion and trendy fist pumping...so get off my back. I'm aware.

It's understandable not to reply back to my critique, but I would like to hear your responses...

well, it's funny, some of the critiques you give were simply observations of certain things we intentionally went for. like the guitar, your mention of the presence of riffs...that was something we intentionally went after. one thing that surprised me was your mention of fewer guitar solos, i dont think there were that many to begin with...but in any case, i dont think there are fewer on this record. we dont really have guitar solos as much as they are just additional melodies, a repitive kind of thing. if anything, i think this record has the closest thing to a guitar solo (reflections or novocaine). as far as the produce is concerned...first off, his experience (Whatever it may have been) with POD, i can assure you that we are not POD. our songs are crafted in a way we want them to crafted, the everglow wasn't some uber obscure artistic effort, it was a record that i think blended our creative side and showed the fact that we like songs with a pop structure and this record is no different. howard didnt make things "more radio", he made them more focused for us. one of the things we wanted to do was strip away a lot of the superfluous ideas we had and focus on the main melody of the song, the main catalyst. so in that case, i think he was the right producer. people always call out his history of crappy records, and yes, i know he's done some, but he's been doing it for years, and he's worked with bands like motorhead and TSOL as well.

"president of a country that is drunk on imperialism and exploitation motivated by a shameless drive for economic and political clout"
I don't really know if this is the same thing but about a week ago I bought a pair of running shoes and on the tag that told about the shoe it didn't mention anything about how it makes running comfy for the feet but instead it explained how the shoe was made in America. It said something along the line of if less than 30% of the material used to make the shoe is imported from other countries and it was actually assembeled in the US then it could say made in USA. It also said that the company was proud that its' shoe was made in USA and that it made the shoe like that for discriminating consumers. I wish I had seen that before I bought that pair of shoes. I don't normally buy that brand of shoe. I just did that time because I was in a hurry to find a pair. I don't think I will buy that brand of shoe again because of what the company said on the tag. Anyways sorry for my rambling but I thought you might appreciate that story. :-)

I'm not a socialist. All systmes have within them abuses, unfortunately. I think it's the depraved nature of mankind. There is no perfect system, and I don't think there ever will be this side of heaven. I haven't seen any system totally work and unless it's a smaller group of like-minded individuals, socialism and communism haven't really worked well either. But I love ya anyway.. no crushes, though. LOL

Vancouver IS nice. And I remember literally seeing a Starbucks on every corner...even two on the SAME corner. To copycat your writing style for a little while, I was actually at a drive-through starbucks waiting for my strawberries and creme frappucino when the window attendant and were discussing the large amount of rain our city had been having lately when I remembered a fact my sister had told me which I relayed to mr. attendant that was, "Lafayette [LA] is number five on the list of the rainiest cities in America." He then asked me if Seattle was number one. I didn't remember. And then we started talking about the guys who started starbucks and how they were from Seattle and their collective creative business genius and then I had to drive off because my frappucino was in hand.

And Seattle is close to Vancouver.
