hey, thanks.

Hey everyone, we play shows everyday. We have good shows, and we have bad shows. We have shows that feel like we're boring, we have shows where the energy that we try our best to give (as exhausted as we get) collides with the energy the crowd gives back, and it becomes this immaculate amalgamation of spirit and energy, mutual appreciation--and nothing could be better. Sometimes we have technical difficulties, and sometimes we might seem flatline. All that being said, there is a bottom line that I want to get across. We can't thank our fans enough, we know a lot of people might see us and forget us, some people might like us, and there are those of you who make it a point to let us know how you feel, and we will never be able to get used to it, and it continues to reaffirm our reasons for making music. We deal with a bunch of shit sometimes that takes our minds so far away from making music, the business of it all drags on us like school work. I don't want go into some rant about how "tough" it is...we're very fortunate, but we're five dudes with lives all the same...lives that include loved ones we rarely see, houses we barely live in, relationships, sickness, writers block, lack of inspriation, cyncicism, humility, uncertainty, etc. Although, the relationships and interaction we have with our fans is always refreshing, always inspirational. Without, we couldn't do this. Thank you. Thank you.

Wow, first comment....

Anyways, it's an honor to be a fan. Personally music is something deep, spiritual even, and not always in a "This brought me closer to God" sense, but more of a "Wow, I'm not the only person who feels like this."

You guys are all some pretty cool dudes, and as long as you are making music and selling CDs, I will be buying them.

I think it is awesome of you to thank the fans but in all honesty, it is you guys that should be getting the thanks. I think sometimes fans take bands for granted, assuming they will always be around, or are always loving life, or whatever. Blah blah blah, anways, Thank you! We may help keep the music going, but your music helps keep me going. So, Thank you. :)

Your music has helped me in so many ways, it is you we should be thanking. Your music helps me sleep at night, work, drive, read, run, etc.. Thank you for that (:

Honestly, there is no way to say this without sounding cheesy, but you guys have honestly made SUCH an impact on my life. In a lot more than just the lyrics and melodies you guys compose, it's all round, and in a lot of ways that you'll never know. Thank YOU for doing what you do. Without you guys I honestly don't know where I’d stand. Seriously.
You are amazing. It makes me happy that you wrote this.
Anyways, thanks again.

I have a question for you, since you seem to be the only person who updates/replies to your blog often.
Do you guys like it when people are making a huge, violent mosh pit and crowd surfing and stuff? Cuz pretty much every time I see you in Utah I end up having an awful time due to people like that and Mae is my favorite band. Fearing for my life makes me unable to enjoy the music.
I'm also curious as to whether that happens everywhere or just in Utah. I saw you at the Black Cat in DC once and it was definitely not like that and I had an awesome time.

liz, a band playing a show is gonna be stoked on any kind of crowd activity, and at this point in our career, i dont think i would be wise to call people out on how the respond to our music. although, I understand your frustration, i know it can get annoying when you have to pay more attention to your surroundings rather than the band you paid to see. unfortunately, it's going to happen either way. When I see shows, I usually stand in the back, thats where it sounds the best in most cases and I think it's more relaxing and enjoyable.

Thanks for replying, zach :)
I guess I'm just too stubborn to give up and move to the back. That's what I get for being a Scorpio. I like to see you guys up close and I really really want to get a drumstick or a guitar pick (haha, I'm lame), but maybe I'll take your advice next time and just stay out of the craziness altogether.

Yea, Liz, sometimes UT is crazy. There was more surfing during RK, and not so much during Mae, but it was like one giant can of sardines. I think it was because most of the crowd couldn't go upstairs and it was sold out.

Zach, about the UT show, I told someone how good you were, and after the show she informed me that I was right about you. :) Just thought you'd like some positive feedback.

I am always saying for me in my life right now it is the best of times and the worst of times. I've never actually read "A Tale of Two Cities" (maybe I should rectify that sometime soon) but it is my favorite line from a book ever. I would think that being a musician in a band would be like that... the best of times and the worst of times almost simultaneously. I think the constant state of travel would be fun, but tiring at times, and I know I'd get homesick eventually.

So, all that to say that I appreciate it, and I know a lot of others do as well.
