I'm on the bus right now watching the MTV Video Music Awards, and quite honestly, I have no idea why. Jack Black is kind of funny, but everything else is kind of ridiculous. We played Austin tonight, and it was a lovely show as always, so thank you Austin. I bought some more CD's and records the other day, this time it was the new Tom Petty, the new Bob Dylan and an Elvis Costello record. I bought it at a great record store in New Orleans, I love cities like New Orleans, cities that have some kind of indefinable spirit running through it, the city kind of feels alive even if no one is on the street. Benj and Fuzz and I went to the St. Louis Cemetery and it was so odd, the cemetery is so old, I saw head stones dating back to the 1830's...and it was smack in the middle of some housing projects and across the street from a Chevron gas station, so, it was kind of a strange juxtaposition. Something that is rather spiritual, sacred, and still sitting there, unaffected, for so long....hmm, I don't know. Is Black Eyed Peas getting on anyone else's nerves? Sheesh. They just won a VMA..go figure. Congratulations to Fergie and the gang.

I didn't watch the VMA's, I am not big in mtv but I gather I didn't miss much. There is a cemetery down the road from my house that dates back to the early 1700's, it's kinda creepy but interesting I guess. Hope the rest of the tour goes well! The Boston show was amazing!

i'm not much of a black eyed peas fan either. their songs are good the first few times, but they easily get annoying. (no offense to them or any black eyed peas fan)

you bought the new tom petty cd? it's really good. i haven't bought it yet, but they played it a lot at work a few weeks ago and i like it a lot. tom petty is just a good musician/singer in general

i smoked my first "cig" when i was 15 years old, in an old cemetery back home where i grew up. that spot is now where old childhood friends and i gather once a year to enjoy cheap cigars (the kind you get at gas stations) and good conversation.

St. Louis it self is a weird place, and probably one with a lot of interesting history besides it being the archway to the west. I actually grew up in an outer section of the st. louis area. I miss it, but back to the history, the cool part about cemetaries like that in st. louis is that those were probably french citizens. yes i said french. anyways its a great place to grow up at. go to the city museum next time your there. its pretty awesome. oh and its not the black eye'd peas getting on my nerves, its just fergie. she really cant sing, more of a mixture between a wail and a screech. Why cant she sing like the kids from vedera. they're awesome. You are lucky to get to tour with her.

MTV has become a lifestyle channel of sorts. If I might generalize, it's kinda become more about culture than music, if you ask me.
